Frequently Asked Questions
I understand that booking a massage especially for the first time can come with a few questions. To help you feel relaxed and prepared, I've answered some of the most common queries below.
If your question isn’t listed here, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I'm always happy to help and make sure you feel completely comfortable before your visit.
What can I expect during my first massage?
Before your massage I’ll send you a form to complete which will ask about your medical history, expectations, and preferences. At your appointment, we’ll begin with a brief consultation to better understand your needs and any areas of concern, you’ll then have privacy to get comfortable on the massage table before the session begins. Your massage will be tailored to your comfort level throughout, ensuring a relaxing and personalized experience.
Do I need to be completely undressed?
This depends on your comfort level. You can undress to whatever level you feel comfortable with. You will always be properly covered with towels or sheets, and only the area being worked on will be exposed.
What should I wear to my appointment?
I recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that’s easy to change in and out of. After your massage you may feel very relaxed, therefore soft, casual clothing is ideal. Avoid anything tight or restrictive if possible.
Will the massage hurt?
Massage should never feel unbearable. Some techniques, especially deeper tissue work, may cause mild discomfort, however it should always be within your tolerance. Always communicate with me so I can adjust pressure accordingly.
During the massage, if I don’t like something, can it be changed?
Absolutely! Your comfort is my priority. If at any point you feel uncomfortable, need more or less pressure, or want the focus to shift, please let me know immediately. The session can always be adjusted to suit your needs.
What about after the massage?
After your massage, take your time getting up as you may feel deeply relaxed. Drink plenty of water to help your body rehydrate and flush out toxins, and avoid strenuous activity for a few hours if possible. Mild soreness can occur, especially after deep tissue work, however this is normal and should subside within a day or two.
How long should I book for?
A 60-minute session is ideal for general relaxation, whereas a 90-minute session allows for a more thorough full-body treatment.
How frequently should I book a massage?
The ideal frequency depends on your goals, lifestyle, and any specific issues you’re looking to address. For general relaxation and wellness, many people benefit from a massage every 3–4 weeks. If you have chronic tension, muscle soreness, or specific therapeutic needs, weekly or biweekly sessions may be more effective.
